A New Approach to Core Stability – June 11th, 2016
Our understanding of how the “core” works has evolved so much over the last 5 years that we have actually completely transformed the way we teach dancers in the clinic and in the studio. It has changed so much, that one of the major back pain researchers, Physiotherapist Prof. Paul Hodges has retracted a lot of his original recommendations for isolated stabilising exercises of the low back. This course explores the natural function of the stabilising system of the low back, ways of activating this system, and a progressive system for developing optimal core control in all positions.
Training Turnout in Tiny Dancers – June 12th, 2016
Many teachers struggle with hip pain and injuries in their adolescent dancers. Few teachers realise how these injuries stem from the training that children had in their early years. This module delves into the delicate art of training turnout in tiny dancers, through to adolescents in a fun and engaging way.
