Sophie Briggs - Pilates Instructor
Sophie is a former professional dancer, model and aerialist and a qualified Pilates instructor and Personal Trainer. With 12 years dance and fitness teaching experience, Sophie’s main focus is dance technique and body conditioning; bringing together her knowledge of movement, anatomy and the dance industry to provide training that achieves a high standard while maintaining safe, strong movement patterns. She aims to prevent and reduce injuries by educating dancers thoroughly about how their bodies move and create stronger, more consistent dancers without losing the joy of movement. Sophie is passionate about not only developing young dancers, but also developing young humans who are able to use the skills learned in dance class to better navigate life both in and out of the studio. She aims to teach students improved body awareness, injury management and efficient movement patterns, as well as stimulating the mind and teaching the benefits of mindful movement and a joy and love of dance. Sophie holds Certificates III & IV in Fitness, Certificate IV & Diploma in Mat, Studio and Rehabilitation Pilates and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She is a trainer and assessor for Positive Action Pilates Teacher Training and is the owner of Sophie Louise: Dance & Pilates Education. She has completed Lisa Howell’s Level 1 Dance Teacher and Therapist Training and regularly attends conferences and workshops to deepen her knowledge of the dance, Pilates and fitness industries. Sophie was mentored by musical theatre choreographer Dana Jolly and is a member of the Ballet Teachers’ Workshop committee.
