Bio

Lisa graduated from the University of Alberta in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy with distinction. Since graduation, Lisa has worked in private practice in Calgary and St. Albert were she mentored with accomplished manual therapists and IMS practitioners. Pursuing training in many postgraduate courses, Lisa has also gained comprehensive training in orthopedic manual and manipulative physiotherapy and a certificate in Gunn IMS. She is also certified with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. Most recently, Lisa has completed Level 1,2 and 3 of the Visceral Manipulation series through the Barral Institute and has completed The Connect Therapy Series with Dr. LJ Lee. She has also completed the Connect Therapy Level 4 update with Dr. LJ Lee and the Integrated Systems Model update with Diane Lee. Some special interest courses that Lisa has completed include: Lisa Howell’s Perfect Form Physiotherapy Level 1 Dance Teacher and Practitioner Training and the Level 2 Flexibility Intensive, Shelley Prosko’s Physioyoga Retreat, a Concussion course through U of C and Laval Universite Laval and a Vestibular and Concussion micro learning course through the U of A. Lisa has done many online courses in the field of Pain Science and Persistent Pain. She learned from Bahram Jam, the NOI group and Lorimer Moseley. Lisa continues to be fascinated by the complexity of the body and how it compensates when a person is experiencing pain. Committed to giving all of her patients a large amount of one-on-one time, she wants to get to know her patients and identify the source of their pain and dysfunction. With her extensive background in most forms of dance and five years as a hockey trainer, she has a special knowledge of how to treat athletic injuries. Lisa enjoys strength training, mountain biking, downhill skiing, walking in the forests and – no surprise here – laughing and delighting in conversations. She also loves fresh air, especially when she’s out and about with her three children. They keep her on the run, but when she has a spare moment, Lisa enjoys time with her husband, good food and good friends!

Testimonial

I find the tips and techniques I learn in these workshops are very useful to use with the dancers I treat. I also adapt many elements of these courses for the rest of my patient population.
