COURSE OVERVIEW:

If you are struggling to find exercises to fit all students or feeling frustrated because you feel helpless with a particular student who just isn’t making progress, this course is for you! This workshop will help you assess your students in detail and be able to offer them effective techniques in a logical clear order to get them on the way to achieving THEIR optimal flexibility.

This course is designed for Dance Teachers, Hands-on Therapists, Yoga Practitioners, Pilates Instructors, Athletic Trainers, Gymnastic Coaches and anyone else interested in the art of Flexibility Training.

With an exponential increase in demands for flexibility, often fuelled by the influence of social media platforms, many teachers are seeing injuries in their dancers as they strive to excel. This is due to the fact that most traditional methods of stretching to improve range fail to acknowledge the variety of different bodily systems that affect mobility, and how each one needs to be works with. Mastering the art of using specific exercises that are based on the quality of restriction allows a gentler, and more effective approach to flexibility training, to rapidly improve mobility in your students in both a studio and clinical setting.

COURSE OVERVIEW

There is often a huge variation in both anatomical makeup and technical capacity of students within one class, making it very challenging for ballet teachers to progress groups of dancers onto pointe. While some dancers struggle specifically with pointe range, others may need help with managing hypermobility and developing dynamic stability. Failing to address these issues before progressing onto pointe often results in these dancers struggling to progress or developing chronic injuries.

Assessing the individual dancer thoroughly before going on pointe is absolutely paramount to success en pointe and is slowly becoming more commonplace in dance schools around the world. Having a clear system that allows you to accurately identify areas of weakness, tightness and instability in a dancer allows us to give them specific exercises that will help optimise their function.

The Perfect Pointe System is a comprehensive program designed to equip dance teachers with everything you need to develop an effective pre-pointe program for all dancers within your studio, either in private lessons or in a group setting. We have included a two year pre-pointe plan to ensure that every student develops the strength and mobility requirements needed to progress onto pointe safely and reduce the likelihood of injury. The Perfect Pointe System is also ideal for Health Professionals to learn the specifics that need to be covered in order to assess a pre-pointe student for pointe work.

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This course is perfect for teachers who are looking to incorporate the right preparatory exercises into their tiny dancer classes to help them develop correctly and avoid injury in their hips.

In conjunction with early childhood Master Teacher Beverly Spell, Lisa delves into the delicate art of training turnout in tiny dancers, exploring safe ways to develop both range and control in young hips, preparing them for higher level work in the future, while having fun with creative play in the classroom. All good learning is laid down in layers, so we explore what concepts need to be introduced at what ages and how to practice this in class.

Please note that this course is a stand-alone course and does not require you to take the Level One workshop prior to attending.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Many dance teachers are concerned at the safety of their students who are working into extreme ranges and the effect that this will have on their body. Elite level choreography often requires extreme mobility, however this comes with the risk of injury if the level of control does not match the dancer’s range. Small errors in technique, such as hinging in the low back, may go unnoticed in a performer’s quest to ‘get’ a move, but if ignored may have grave repercussions long-term.

This course delivers a systemised approach to training extreme mobility, taking the principles from the Level 2 Flexibility Intensive and applying them to specific examples ranging from a flat front split to a full scorpion. A template for creating sports-specific screening protocols for advanced moves is introduced, using a forward walkover as an example. We explore techniques for improving each type of restriction; Bone, Joint, Nerve, Fascia and Muscle, followed by carefully chosen exercises to master control into deeper ranges around the hip, spine and shoulder.
